Weekly Outreach Classes
Westside Ballet’s Sunday Open Classes offer a free introduction to classical ballet for girls and boys ages 6–11. Designed for children with little or no previous dance experience, these welcoming classes provide a creative, joyful, and inclusive environment where students can discover the fundamentals of ballet while building confidence, coordination, and a love for movement.
Class Details
Location: Westside School of Ballet, 1709 Stewart Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404. Free street parking is available on Sundays.
Schedule: Sundays | 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Cost: Free. There is no fee to participate.
What to Wear: Children should wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely. Stretch pants or leggings are recommended, and socks are required for sanitary reasons. Ballet shoes are encouraged but not required. Long hair should be secured away from the face, and students should bring a water bottle to class.
Registration: A signed liability waiver is required before participating. Families planning a same-day drop-in are encouraged to call the studio at (310) 828-2018 to confirm space availability.

Free weekly introductory ballet classes for children ages 6–11 that build confidence, creativity, and a strong foundation in classical ballet. Students who demonstrate commitment and potential may be considered for scholarships.
About the Instructor
Nola Gibson leads the Sunday Open Classes. A graduate of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance and Political Science, Nola trained under Robyn Gardenhire at City Ballet of Los Angeles, where she now teaches beginning and intermediate ballet. She has also studied at renowned summer programs including LINES Ballet and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and brings both technical expertise and an encouraging teaching style to every class.
