Community Outreach
Westside Ballet of Santa Monica is committed to expanding access to classical ballet through free programs, scholarships, and community partnerships. Our outreach initiatives introduce children and families to the arts while creating opportunities for young dancers to continue their training.
Dance to Dreams
A free annual ballet workshop that introduces children to classical ballet through professional instruction. Outstanding participants may be invited to continue their training through scholarship opportunities.
Weekly Outreach Classes
Free weekly introductory ballet classes for children ages 6–11 that build confidence, creativity, and a strong foundation in classical ballet. Students who demonstrate commitment and potential may be considered for scholarships.
Pathways
The Pathways Partnership, a collaboration between Westside Ballet and California Dance Institute, expands access to high-quality dance education for children across Los Angeles’ Westside. Through free community programming, scholarships, and year-round training opportunities, the program creates a pathway for young dancers to discover the joy of movement and reach their full potential.
Community Preview Performances
Each season, Westside Ballet welcomes schools, youth organizations, veterans, and community partners to experience the magic of live ballet through complimentary and reduced-price performances. These special events help ensure that children and families throughout Los Angeles can experience world-class ballet regardless of financial barriers.
In addition to community previews, Westside Ballet presents educational school performances that introduce elementary students to the art of classical ballet. Featuring narrated excerpts from The Nutcracker and opportunities to meet the dancers through post-performance discussions, these performances provide an engaging first theater experience while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
