Adult Ballet Classes

Adult Ballet Classes

Adult Ballet at Westside School of Ballet welcomes dancers ages 18 and older at every stage of their journey. Whether you are beginning ballet for the first time, returning after a break, or continuing your lifelong training, our adult program offers a supportive and encouraging environment for dancers of all experience levels.

With drop-in classes offered multiple times a day, seven days a week, students have the flexibility to find a class schedule that fits their goals and lifestyle. Classes focus on developing classical ballet technique, musicality, strength, flexibility, and artistry while providing the opportunity to enjoy the many physical and creative benefits of dance.

Schedule and Registration

Adult classes are offered throughout the year with multiple classes available each day, seven days a week. Students may register for individual classes, class packages, or available enrollment options based on their goals and schedule. Registration is facilitated on MindBody.

Adult Ballet Levels

Students are encouraged to select the class that best matches their current training level and may explore different classes and instructors to find the best fit.

Intro to Ballet

Designed for absolute beginners or students who have not studied ballet in many years. This class introduces the fundamentals of classical ballet, with an emphasis on barre work, body placement, alignment, and basic ballet terminology.

Beginning 1

For students with minimal previous ballet experience. This class moves at a slower pace and focuses on building comfort with basic movements, positions, and terminology. Classwork emphasizes barre exercises with limited center work.

Beginning 2

For students who have developed an understanding of fundamental ballet positions, concepts, and vocabulary. This class introduces more center work while continuing to reinforce foundational technique at a comfortable pace.

Beginner/Intermediate

For students with a solid understanding of ballet vocabulary and foundational technique. Classes include full barre and center work, with more complex exercises and combinations. The pace and focus may vary by instructor, with some classes leaning more beginner and others moving toward an intermediate level.

Intermediate

Designed for students with a strong foundation in ballet technique. Classes move at a faster pace and emphasize combining steps, continuity of movement, coordination, and musicality.

Intermediate/Advanced

For experienced dancers with significant ballet training. Classes feature a faster pace and more complex, challenging exercises while continuing to refine technique and artistry. As with mixed-level classes, pace and difficulty may vary by instructor.

Adult Jazz

Adult Jazz classes introduce students to jazz technique through rhythm, musicality, coordination, and movement quality. Classes incorporate jazz vocabulary, across-the-floor exercises, and choreography while encouraging dancers to develop confidence, performance skills, and personal expression.

Other Classes

Throughout the year, Westside offers additional adult classes and specialty offerings designed to complement ballet training and support overall movement development. Offerings may include contemporary, conditioning, stretch, workshops, and other specialty classes.
